What is Project CLASS?
Project CLASS stands for Children Learning Appropriate Social Skills. Project CLASS is an extremely innovative, effective and field-tested set of training and program initiatives started in 1997.

Whether at home, school, work or in the community, relationship skills significantly determine success or failure. Relationship success begins with basic social skills.

Children must learn and develop core foundational building block social, relationship and emotional skills to get along with others and succeed in life.

How teachers and school staff teach these skills makes a world of difference. Project CLASS gives them tools and support to assist children in learning these skills.

Project CLASS addresses a serious and escalating problem in our community and
in communities across the country. Far too
many children have relationship problems.
They have difficulty getting along with both
other children and adults.

Project CLASS works by concentrating on each child’s development of fundamental and vital social skills and by strengthening social skills teaching abilities in teachers and school staff.

The core competency of Project CLASS is practical and effective Training. Key components include simple, effective content, "a fun and engaging approach," and teaching-learning tools to strengthen implementation.

“I never imagined that six basic social skills could make such a huge difference in the behavior of my students. I wish I had emphasized these skills 10 years ago. I would have helped my students and saved me a lot of wear and tear.”
